Develop problem-solving skills

M3 • C3 • 2 MINS

In this stage, you will graduate from screens to user flows. This is where things get really serious. You're about to take a bunch of mini-tests to be ready for the final test. The final test is your case study that will go in your portfolio.

As designers, designing experiences is a part of our job. That means we design user flows. Many assume that putting together a few screens forms a user flow. But it's easier said than done. In this chapter, we will look at what it really takes to design a solid flawless user flow.

Identifying problems is often second nature to every skilled product designer out there. It's pretty much what we get paid for. Not just to find them but also to solve them.

Make a list of 10 problems people encounter or activities that people perform that can be made more efficient. You don't have to come up with an entire app concept at this stage. You just need to find a user flow that requires a user to perform a single action.

In the Figma file below, you will find a link to a video that will help you come up with ideas. But here are a few suggestions that you might find interesting.

• Allowing users to book lockers for a temporary period of time in train stations in some of the biggest cities in the world.
• Helping the staff of a movie theatre to deliver food to customers who had ordered food through a web app.
• Helping the staff of an e-scooter company to find and replace empty batteries in e-scooters scattered across a city.
• Creating a poll feature for YouTube Videos.
• Allowing users to post audio messages on Instagram Stories.
• Allowing readers of a library to find a particular book using AR.
